Wirtz said: "It was a really nice feeling on the pitch with the fans around me. I was very happy, and I still am.

Wirtz now has one goal and two assists in 17 Premier League appearances.

"I was convinced that I would score a goal one day," he continued. "I would have liked to have started earlier with scoring goals and assisting, but that's how it was and I have to accept it. I know it's coming and I'm trying to continue like that."

Liverpool are currently in fifth place in the Premier League.
