Wilson: If Newcastle want to spend in January, we can

Wilson has no plans to spend big this winter, but is open to signings.

"It's pretty obvious to everyone, given the level of spending the club has had in the summer, that we're not going to do it again in the winter window for various reasons. But if we want to spend, we can," he told BBC Sport.

"Of course we will be creative, of course we will also be opportunistic. But the most important thing is that it has to be consistent with what the summer plan looks like, what the larger squad plan is.

"All those conversations are ongoing. We will talk about where Eddie (Howe) sees the need in the squad."
