Alli has been a free agent since having his contract at Serie A side Como terminated in September.
He had spent just six months in Italy under Cesc Fabregas following mixed spells at Besiktas and Everton in what has been a tough few years for the former England international.
However, in what is a welcome break, the midfielder has been given permission to train on the academy pitch at Hotspur Way in Hertfordshire.
The 29-year-old scored 69 goals over 269 appearances during seven years at Spurs and is considered to be a club legend by many supporters who still adore him to this day.
Alli was a special guest at the north London derby against Arsenal last month and spoke to supporters at half-time.
“I can’t wait to get back on the pitch playing, hopefully it won’t be too long now.
“I hope you’ve missed me as much as I’ve missed you. A lot has happened in our journeys since we were last together, but I’m back today, and I hope you know that you’ll always be my family.”
Alli has been allowed to use the pitches as a way to keep fit and build his stamina ahead of the summer transfer window where the midfielder will make a decision on his future.
The midfielder shared a video of him on the pitches at the club’s training ground on his Instagram account as fans spoke about his potential return which comes as former manager and now USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
