Man United striker Benjamin Sesko was the final outfiled player to take a penalty in their shock Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby on Wednesday (August 27).

The 22-year-old, who was signed from RB Leipzig for a reported fee of £74 million earlier in the summer, made his first Man United start in the game against Grimsby.

Sesko had a quiet game, having just eight touches in the opposition box with two of his six shots being on target.

Many had expected the big striker to be amongst the first to take a spot kick, but he ended up being the tenth, expertly slotting past Grimsby ‘keeper Christy Pym.

According to the BBC, he was so far down the list because he was struggling with cramp having completed a first competitive 90 minutes since 19 April.

The conditions at Blundell Park were extreme as both sides had to contend with a surprise thunderstorm on the Lincolnshire coast.
