Manchester United have clinched the commitment of Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco.

Colombia is among the countries that exports the most footballers in the world. The quality of Colombian players is internationally recognised. In the last summer transfer window, for example, Bayern Munich paid almost 80 million euros for Luis Diaz, who has adapted quickly to the Bundesliga. In the winter window, Al Nassr paid close to 90 million (between transfer and variables) to Aston Villa for Jhon Jáder Durán.

Outside of the more recognisable faces, Colombia is a country that is being watched by recruiters. Many young players are on the radar of the big European teams. This is the case of Cristian Orozco (17), one of the promising players and captain of Fortaleza, who has joined Manchester United.

"Manchester United have already sealed and signed a deal to sign the talented 17-year-old Colombian Cristian Orozco. Transfer fee of US$1 million from Fortaleza in agreement valid from summer 2026. The lawyers approved all contracts and the deal was coordinated by scout leader Antonaccio," the Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, said on his social media.

Who is Cristian Orozco?

Orozco, born in Valledupar (2008), is the captain of the Colombia U-17 national team (which will play in the U-17 World Cup in Qatar). He is known for his physicality, power and good ball distribution. His leadership has made him the leader of Fortaleza.

In the U-17 World Cup he will have an interesting presentation card. Colombia shares a group with Germany, El Salvador and North Korea. Orozco hopes to stand out and carry the South American country's flag high.

Colombian football experts state his natural position is as a pivot. He is 1.78m tall and weighs 72kg. Although he is not a strong pivot, he has an interesting ability to steal and especially to distribute the ball. In some games he has been used as a central defender.

However, his best position is in midfield - an area United management have been pushing to reinvigorate over the past 12 months.
