Salah, a club icon, was an unused substitute for Sunday's win at West Ham, and he was on the bench for the 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland before coming on in the second half and making little impact.
The Egyptian king has bagged just two goals since September 17th and many feel that his time with the Reds is coming to an end as he continues to struggle to impress on the pitch.
Speaking after the Sunderland game, Van Dijk revealed that Salah is still a leader in the side and will have a huge role to play heading into the rest of the season.
“What has Mo been like? Like he should be: disappointed. But we need him and he will still be important like he has been.
"He is still a fantastic player and we still have to remember there is a reason why he has been so successful at the club and we have to respect that.
"I need him around as one of the leaders. I'm not worried. He's disappointed but that's absolutely normal as if you're not disappointed when you're not playing two games in a row then there is an issue as well. But it's onto the next now.
"I am pretty sure Mo will still be a big part of what we are trying to achieve because he is an amazing player and he has shown it consistently. But like I said with Flo (Florian Wirtz), we are all trying to find consistency and he needs us to be in our best shape and we need him and that's what we are all trying to find."
Liverpool ended up settling for a point against Sunderland and will now prepare to face Leeds United at the weekend, a side who beat Chelsea earlier this week. Salah is unlikely to start once more, further pushing the narrative that the winger is on his way out.
