England international Morgan Rogers restored parity just after the half hour mark before forgotten man Emiliano Buendia secured all three points for Emery’s side.
Speaking to the press after the much-needed win, Emery praised ‘difference maker’ Buendia.
“One reason for how he struggled in two years was after his injury. He needed time to recover,” he said.
“He started this season and this pre-season different to the last one. He has done very well and his skill is clear. He has skills to make the difference. I am so happy with him.”
