After being ignored by Tuchel for this week's 35-man squad selection, former Liverpool defender Alexander-Arnold took to social media, posting: "Real Madrid and nothing else."
Asked for a reaction, Tuchel said: "As a response to not being nominated? Well fair enough, fair enough. I think it's a very hard decision that we took. No doubt about his talents, no doubt about his career and what he can give to teams.
"We created a slightly different game model when he was not in camp in September, October, November. It was a game model built on intensity, built on positivity, built even like in the profile of the full-back, on overlaps, on underlaps, very intense so it was a slightly different profile of players.
"We just stick to these guys and I know it's on his back and he was with us in June. Maybe he deserved a second chance. It is a very hard difficult decision, I'm aware of it but he took it on his chin.
"We will keep on going and I will make sure I will see some matches from Real Madrid and maybe a Champions League match live to get my last impressions.
"He's on the long list and everyone is still in the mix, but at the moment, some other guys are just ahead."
