The 30-year-old was shipped out on loan in the final days of last summer’s transfer window following the arrival of Senne Lammens.
Onana has since managed to rediscover some form an confidence at Trabzonspor, saving three penalties in their dramatic Turkish Cup quarter final win over Samsunspor on Thursday (April 23).
Speaking to Turkish outlet NTV Spor after the game, Dogan pleaded with Onana to consider making his move permanent.
“Onana already has a clear career path,” Dogan said. “We love him. As I’ve said before, he has a specific plan for his career. If the conditions are right, we want him to stay. The final decision will be Onana’s.”
It’s understood that Man United are looking to sell Onana in the summer, but Trabzonspor would find it difficult to pay the asking price and the ‘keeper’s wages.
