Former Chelsea and Republic of Ireland star Andy Townsend has revealed that West Ham's Jarrod Bowen could replace Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

Interest from the Saudi Pro League has not vanished for the Egyptian star who has been tipped to leave the Premier League champions over the past year.

Salah brought his future on Merseyside into doubt in December with an explosive interview and reports suggest a summer move at the end of the season will see the club legend wave goodbye to supporters once and for all.

Bowen has been linked with a move to replace the 33-year-old after a number of impressive seasons. The England international has 8 goals and 3 assists in the Premier League this season and at 29 year certainly has the experience needed to fill in the gap.

Townsend agrees with such reports as he told BOYLE Sports who offer the latest football odds that he should make the move to the North West.

“Who can Liverpool bring in to take Mohamed Salah’s place next season? I think Bowen would do very well for Liverpool.

“I don't quite get the Rodrigo links. Clearly if you play for Real Madrid you’ve got great ability, but I’ve never seen him as a Galactico.

“Jarrod Bowen would absolutely go to Liverpool and be a real threat for them from the right on that side. They’d have Cody Gakpo, Hugo Ekitike and Bowen. They give you pace, work rate, goals and real output. That’s a frontline that has everything you could want.

“Liverpool are going to have to look at Bowen because I just don’t see Salah staying beyond this summer. Whatever's gone on at Anfield, it's just taken a bit of wind out of Mo’s sails.

“Whether it's a relationship problem or he’s just getting older, whatever it is he’s never going to be able to keep producing the numbers like he has done in the past. It just looks like Mo is now running out of steam and there’s no shame in that. It’s just football. It’s part and parcel of getting older. Mo’s best days are behind him, and they’ve got to replace him.”

Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande have also been linked as The Reds weight up their options.
