Swedish media sources are reporting the ankle injury is serious and could leave Bergvall sidelined for between eight and 12 weeks.
Along with the blow for Spurs, Bergvall's injury also hands Sweden coach Graham Potter.
As it stands, the midfielder will miss Sweden's World Cup qualifying playoff against Ukraine in March.
