Richarlison set an unwanted Premier League record following his emotional goal celebration as Tottenham played out a 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

The Brazil international sparked wild jubilation having scored what appeared like Spurs’ winner against the Red Devils before the Old Trafford scored at the death to share points.

According to Opta, Richarlison becomes the first player since records began in 2006-07 to be booked for removing his shirt after a 90th-minute goal, only to see his side concede afterwards, on more than one occasion. 

Before this, the previous instance in April 2023 against Liverpool, when his equaliser at Anfield was followed seconds later by Diogo Jota’s stoppage-time winner.

With the result, Tottenham occupy the fifth position in the English topflight log having accrued 18 points from 11 matches played so far.
