The midfielder has yet to make an appearance for Tottenham so far this campaign under manager Thomas Tuchel after picking up an injury in training ahead of the first Premier League match of the campaign against Burnley.
Things were looking up, however, as the 29-year-old came on for Mali against Madagascar in their 4-1 World Cup qualifying win. Bissouma had made an instant impact, intercepting a pass before being taken out in brutal fashion.
It remains to be seen how serious the injury is, but the playmaker had to be helped off the pitch after writhing in pain on the ground for a number of minutes. This does not bode well for Bissouma, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
The injury prone star was linked with a move away from the club, but the transfer materialized. It seems almost inevitable that he won’t stay beyond next summer as his constant injuries continue to hurt his career.
Bissouma was also left out of the Champions League squad for the league phase of the tournament, and Frank is unlikely to have plans for him in the future as Spurs chase down European football.
