Boehly has spent nearly £1.5BN on transfer fees, including more than £100M on both Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez to help Maresca’s midfield, which is one of the best in the Premier League.

However, have fielded the youngest starting line-ups in the Premier League and the Champions League this season, which just shows their mass investment in young talent under Boehly’s leadership.

Many have taken digs at Chelsea’s transfer strategy in recent years, stating that the side not only have too many players but also too many young players.

Now, in a rare interview with Financial Review, Boehly has revealed that he cannot wait to see how fans react to the team’s evolution.

“You’re going to watch our team continue to grow and evolve. We’ve got them together for a long time, I am pretty excited about what the future looks like.

"We're in this for the long term. We want to build something sustainable and exciting for fans.

"Money is a tool, not the goal. We're investing in talent to compete at the highest level, but it's about smart risks, not reckless ones."

He also emphasized that he has developed a thick skin to deal with the range of opinions regarding his tenure over the last few years as he guides Chelsea to success.

“Sometimes my wife and my family take it differently than I take it. I just find it’s one more person that doesn’t know what they’re talking about.”
