Newcastle United host Qarabag FK at St James' Park on Tuesday night but will be without 8 key players.

The Magpies won 6-1 in last week's first-leg as they cruised to victory. Now they welcome their Azerbaijani foes to the North East for what should be an entertaining clash.

Newcastle can start to prepare for a last-16 showdown with either Chelsea or Barcelona as they come into the clash but must be careful as they aim to maintain their lead.

Heading into the game, Newcastle have several injuries across the pitch including Sven Botman (lower back) Tino Livramento (hamstring), Emil Krafth (knee) and Fabian Schar (ankle). Malick Thiaw (suspended) all in defence.

In midfield, manager Eddie Howe is again without captain Bruno Guimaraes (hamstring) as well as Lewis Miley (thigh). Speaking 10 days ago on Guimaeres, Howe said he won’t be back for quite a while.

“I think it will be a couple of months. We're probably looking at the end of the international break in March for his return. Massive blow for us at a key stage of the season. He's devastated. But it is what it is... we can't do anything about it.”

Finally, in attack, Newcastle are likely without Yoane Wissa (thigh) as Nick Woltemade steps in to replace him. Howe spoke on Wissa in his press conference ahead of the game, revealing that he is unlikely to feature this week.

“I don't think he'll be available tomorrow, but I don't think he'll be too far off, maybe the Qarabag game. It was in training, a nasty knock, but I think he'll be fine.”
