Eliezer Mayenda reflected on a historic day at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland celebrated their Premier League return with a 3-0 win over West Ham United.

The 20-year-old striker made history by scoring the Black Cats’ opening goal in the Premier League, with Dan Ballard and Wilson Isidor adding to a memorable afternoon on Wearside.

“It was a great game for us – we played very well and I’m so happy for the first win,” he said Sunderland website.

“It was an amazing feeling to score, and for it to be our first goal back in the Premier League is even more special.”
