The 30-year-old was shipped out on loan to Everton for 2025-26 after falling down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
Grealish initially impressed in Merseyside, but a broken foot sustained after the 1-0 win over boyhood club Aston Villa back in January cut his season short.
According to the Daily Mirror, incoming new manager Maresca could be set to hand Grealish a lifeline.
It’s understood that the 46-year-old is planning to hold talks with Grealish and is expecting him to report for duty ahead of their pre-season tour of Asia.
Everton remain keen on keeping Grealish, however, and have a £50 million option to buy included in the loan, although that is considered to be too steep by the club.
