Mendes is the son of Barcelona and PSG great Ronaldinho and moved to the Tigers in September from Burnley.
Mendes is currently building up his match fitness with Hull's U21 team.
He said on BBC Radio Humberside: "I don't feel any pressure. I've always had it clear in my mind that I'm me and he's him.
"It's normal that you're going to see me as his son but that doesn't affect me or the way I play. I don't care at all."
He added: "All my family always say to me it is just noise and I don't need to listen to any of it. I just need to be happy playing football."
Mendes missed preseason at Burnley and added: "I'm just working hard to earn my spot. The main objective is to make it to the first team.
"The fitness level wasn't there when I joined so I'm working on that. The coaches understand and help me a lot."
Mendes is currently on a 12 month Hull contract.
