Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke has spoken out about his long term injury as he seeks to return.

Last month, Solanke shared pictures on social media with the captions "Positivity through the dark times” and "Little bit of life” as he kept fans updated on his injury spell which has lasted longer than expected.

Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League following the opening 11 games of the season, despite having their star striker off the pitch for the majority of the season.

However, the England international is close to returning after key surgery which looks to have boosted his recovery. Speaking to The Athletic, Solanke revealed his injury troubles and how he is fighting through it.

"It’s been very difficult. At first, I didn’t think I would be out for too long, but we didn’t really understand the extent of the injury. I was trying to get back as quickly as I could but it didn’t happen, so I had to have surgery. Since then, I have been working to get back.

"I’m not putting a timeline on it because I’ve been telling everyone ‘I’m going to be back soon’ for the last few months. I’m taking it day by day but hopefully I won’t be much longer."

The 28-year-old joins James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski in the medical room in what is a huge headache for manager Thomas Frank. Frank was asked at the beginning of November whether fans could expect to see Solanke back on the pitch before the end of 2025, to which he replied: “I do hope so.”
