The Football Association of Slovenia have released a statement on Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko.

Sesko is set for weeks on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury he picked up during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday afternoon.

Slovenia boss Matjaz Kek, meanwhile, wanted Sesko to be seen by his country's medical team, as he appeared frustrated by such a knock. He said the team’s doctor was an expert in such an injury, and the national side deserve the chance to inspect and to be respected.

However, the Slovenia FA have now released a statement on the matter, as they accepted United’s diagnosis and put the issue behind them.

“The medical team of the Slovenian national football team received the complete medical documentation from Manchester United regarding Benjamin Sesko’s health condition following his injury on Saturday, including the current clinical picture and the examinations performed,” a spokesperson told the Daily Mail

“Unfortunately, the injury currently does not allow for the training process. In the coming days, additional examinations and the start of treatment are planned at the club, so Benjamin will unfortunately not be able to participate in this national team action. We wish Benjamin a speedy recovery and a return to the football field as soon as possible.”

United make the trip to South London to face Crystal Palace and just four days later host West Ham United as manager Ruben Amorim aims to push into the European spots.

Losing Sesko is an even greater blow as Amorim will miss Bryan Mbeumo and Amad to AFCON over the next month in what may be a tough period for the side.
