Elliott has made only five appearances for Villa since joining the club on loan from Liverpool as manager Unai Emery fails to hand him the opportunities needed to make his mark on the Villa first team.
The England star would become a permanent member of Emery’s squad for £35M if he reaches 10 appearances, a clause that does not look like it will be triggered anytime soon.
Ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Leeds United this weekend, Slot spoke frankly about Elliott’s current situation, which he says must be addressed by Emery himself.
"I haven't had contact with him a lot, I think only once or twice and that was before and after he played Feyenoord away - nothing to do with the fact he played against a former club of mine.
"I am aware of his situation, of course. I knew how difficult it already was for him over here, so I think I know how he feels at this moment - but you should ask those questions at Villa and not over here."
Elliott has only played 96 minutes in the Premier League this season, with his last outing in the English top flight coming on September 28th against Fulham. Emery is unlikely to feature him anymore this season, as many call for him to be brought back to Liverpool in the January transfer window.
