Slot could have become the first Liverpool boss to oversee five consecutive defeats in the Premier League if his side had not beaten Aston Villa in a cool 2-0 victory on Saturday night.
After a run of four straight losses in the Premier League and six defeats in seven across all competitions, that Villa victory was much needed and brought a sigh of relief for Liverpool fans, whose title hopes have been dwindling.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tribal Football, Gullit spoke on behalf of Video Gamer about Slot’s dire form and if he has ever experienced a slump like the one this season during his career so far.
“Nope. No, it's the first one. He has to earn his money now. I can sit here and if you win, then I'm always right.
"But then comes a moment. Now you're going to see, what are you going to do in order to get this resistance and this team back on track.
“But that takes some time. People are not afraid of Liverpool anymore. That aura is gone, and it will take some time to get that back.”
Slot's side host Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, before they visit Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The fixture list clearly does not get any easier for the Premier League champions, who will aim to mastermind a win over Los Blancos, something they did last season in a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.
