United are currently taking part in the Premier League Summer Series, which also features Everton, Bournemouth and West Ham United who they beat 2-1 thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes last week. Club reporter Harry Robinson recently caught up with Ferdinand at the side of the MetLife Stadium pitch before the game and spoke on Yoro in a move that Ferdinand played a huge part in as he asked the young defender to join the side before welcoming him on social media.
"I think he'll grow," Ferdinand predicted. "Leny Yoro, I think, is a fantastic talent. The prospects, the talent, isn't a question.
"It's about fulfilling that talent, that potential, and I think he's a serious person, works hard.
"I still think you need the stability around him to help him as a young player," Ferdinand added.
United’s starting back three against West Ham that included Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Ayden Heaven in what is arguably manager Ruben Amorim’s strongest backline. Ferdinand continued to heap praise on Yoro he believes can reach the very top if he continues his hard work behind the scenes as they prepare for their next preseason game against the Cherries this Thursday.
"His desire is to be better every year and keep working, and long may that continue.
"If he continues like that, who knows what his ceiling is going to be?"
