Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim took Antoine Semenyo out for dinner as they pursued the Bournemouth winger during the summer.

United wanted to add Semenyo to their attacking swoop of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko over the summer.

United discussed terms with Bournemouth, while Amorim held direct talks with Semenyo as they met for a meal.

However, it was the Ghana international who eventually pulled out of the move.

Semenyo was left unimpressed by United's contract offer, which was only 70 per cent of the salary they tabled to Cunha and Mbeumo to close their deals, reported the Sunday Times' Duncan Castles speaking on The Transfers Podcast.
