Tottenham's Micky van de Ven scored twice against Everton in a momentous moment for the defender.

Three headed goals condemned Everton to a first defeat at their new home in Merseyside in what was a tough loss for manager David Moyes whose side dropped to 14th place.

Van de Ven’s two first-half headers came before Pape Sarr added a third headed goal in the second half, putting the game to bed. Speaking after the affair, the Dutchman revealed his delight as he became Tottenham’s top scorer in the Premier League for this season.

"It's crazy, I never score two goals in one game, it's an unbelievable feeling.

"We saw some great mentality again today. When we play away in the Premier League, we know it is going to be tough, and we showed great character.

"It was a top all-round performance today."

He becomes the first defender to score two goals in a Premier League match for Spurs since March 2013, following Jan Vertonghen, who netted two goals against Liverpool

Manager Thomas Frank also praised the work van de Ven has put in to become more of a goal threat behind the scenes.

“We worked hard on it and so did Micky,” Frank said. “Now he has three headers, with two today.

“Still a lot of things I want to improve in the tram. We have a clean sheet mentality, and that gives you a lot of points on the road.”
