As reported by The Mirror, his home was broken into just an hour before Chelsea were due to face Wolves on Saturday afternoon. Those responsible failed to get away with any valuables and were reportedly shocked to find Sterling inside the house.
A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Raheem Sterling was the victim of a home break-in this weekend. We can also confirm that he and his children were present at home at the time.
"Whilst the ultimate violation of privacy and safety, we are thankful to be able to confirm that he and his loved ones are all safe. We ask that the privacy of Raheem and his loved ones be respected at this challenging time."
This has happened to the winger in the past, as he pulled out of England’s last-16 tie with Senegal in 2022 after learning of another invasion at his home. Burglaries are unfortunately a common occurrence for footballers, who are often targeted on match days.
Thames Valley Police confirmed to Telegraph Sport that it has launched an investigation.
“Officers are conducting a thorough investigation and ask anyone with information, or if they saw anyone in the area acting suspiciously, to contact police,” a spokesperson added.
Sterling has not played a senior game since his last appearance for Arsenal on May 25th and as he trains separately from the side he is unlikely to feature for the side anytime soon despite being on over £300k per week.
