Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has thanks fans for their support after it was revealed he had quit punditary.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Scholes quit his TNT Sports role to spend time with his non-verbal autistic son Aiden. His son was diagnosed as having non-verbal autism, which has left him needing around-the-clock care from his parents since birth.

He said on Stick to Football: “I made a decision this year because of Aiden, obviously due to his special needs you might know about.

“All the work I do now is just around his routines cos he has quite a strict routine every single day, so I just decided everything I’m going to do it is around Aiden.”

Now, he has thanked fans for their support over the past few days in what has been an emotional time for him and his family.

Scholes wrote on Instagram: "Would just like to thank everyone for all your kind messages since the Overlap interview regarding Aiden, there's been loads and tried to read as many as possible.

“The response from families (especially Dads) shows much speaking about it helps so many. There was one quote from a parent in a similar position that's just got me: 'My job is to stay alive for one day longer than my son/daughter'. Anyway it's weekend, let's have a few drinks and watch the football..Come on Salford."

The former England star revealed that just doing podcasts such as Stick to Football and his new show The Good, The Bad and The Football have helped his schedule and for now he wil stay away from TV punditry.
