Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner appeared to aim a sly jab at Tottenham in his congratulatory message to now Arsenal star Eberechi Eze.

The 27-year-old move to Arsenal for a reported £60 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons, last summer, an emotional homecoming to the club that released him as a boy.

Eze is now a Premier League champion, helping Mikel Arteta’s side to their first league title in 22-years after Man City failed to beat Bournemouth.

It could have been very different for Eze, however, as the attacking midfielder came very close to joining North London rivals Tottenham.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Crystal Palace’s game against Arsenal on the final day of the season, Glasner couldn’t help but have a little dig at Spurs.

"First of all I want to congratulate Arsenal, Mikel Arteta, his players, staff, for a huge achievement of winning the title after 22 years, it’s a fantastic job they have done," Glasner said on Thursday.

"Also a special congrats to Eberechi, I think he’s taken the right decision to go to Arsenal and not to another club."
