Nuno kicked off his tenure with a rousing 3-1 victory over Newcastle United this past weekend after a tough start to the season for the side who many believe are destined for relegation. This weekend they welcome Burnley, who sit one spot above them by 3 points.
West Ham squad must be committed
Nuno first spoke on their win over Newcastle and the team's mentality once they went 1-0 down in the first half.
"Football is like that so we don’t really have to work hard on it. It is just realising that you can be punished but you have to react. You cannot put your head down and think the game is over.
"The reaction was positive. As I see it, it is the best thing that happened to us, the way we went, we reacted against adversity.
"We competed really well but the process is never over, a football team is never over. There's no starting eleven, there's a squad that is available for us to try and use.
"As long as they are healthy and committed, we have solutions and options."
Fitness updates
Questions then switched to Niclas Fullkrug and Dinos Mavropanos who are both slowly returning to fitness.
"Both of them are improving, starting to work at different stages. Dinos is still doing individual work. Niclas is progressing with the group, not all parts of the training session.
"There now comes the international break, I think after that I’m positive everything is going to be OK."
On any other injury concerns: "Some of them unfortunately. After a football match there’s always knocks, always problems we have to deal with during the week. Let’s see, we still have tomorrow."
Fullkrug to leave?
Nuno continued on Fullkrug and the rumours surrounding his future, which state that he is vying for a move away in the January transfer window.
"I understand everybody does their job in this industry. My job is to coach. Niclas played the first two games and unfortunately got injured, now he is coming back.
"If we can get him healthy and ready to go he's another option for the team."
