The 17-year-old became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer at just 16 years and 361 days old when he netted the winner at St James’ Park last month with a fine finish past Nick Pope.
The teenager joined Liverpool’s Academy from Chelsea in September 2024 and has impressed so much at the academy level that manager Arne Slot has fired him straight into the first team this season.
His deal was confirmed by the club website and journalist Fabrizio Romano, who revealed the length of his first contract.
“BREAKING: Rio Ngumoha signs new deal at Liverpool - understand it is valid until June 2028! ????
“Agreement done and sealed with talented winger seen as big part of #LFC project for long term.”
Ngumoha is seen as future cover to Cody Gakpo on the left wing as Slot aims to invest in youth rather than dipping into the transfer market which Liverpool did this summer in what was a £400+M haul for The Reds.
The young winger could feature once more as Liverpool travel to Selhurst Park this weekend to face Crystal Palace. He is unlikely to start but minutes off the bench are not impossible for Ngumoha who is climbing the ranks under Slot.
