According to the Express & Star, Barnes, 28, is likely to be one of them, with Newcastle valuing him at £40 million.
Aston Villa are keen on adding Barnes to their squad following a stellar season in which they won the Europa League and secured a top four finish.
The feeling is said to be mutual, with Barnes open to the move should a formal bid materialise from Unai Emery’s side.
Barnes has been a bright spark in Newcastle’s poor season, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists in his 57 games.
