It has been four years since the Saudi takeover, making the Premier League side one of the richest on the planet. Now, the club seek to use that money and their ambition to push the side further than ever.

Hopkinson spoke clearly on his vision and even told fans to ignore laughs and jeers that are inevitable.

“By 2030, I see this club being in the debate about being the top club in the world. That’s where I see us by 2030.

“That kind of progress doesn’t take as long as you might think. What it takes is clarity of conviction. We have to have the courage to ignore those that doubt us, and even those that laugh at us. Because there will be some.

"We need to be totally aligned about the fact that that's what we want to do. We have to have the courage to ignore those that doubt us, and even those that laugh at us. Because there will be some. I've been through this journey before.”

Hopkinson described Newcastle as “the most exciting project in European football” as the club seek to up revenue and therefore invest more in the side who are currently in the Champions League and could become winners over the next decade.
