It's since emerged that Isak, with the squad on tour across Asia, left his Newcastle homebase this week for San Sebastian and to use the training facilities at former club Real Sociedad.
Isak is being accompanied by a personal trainer as he trains in Spain. It was also revealed after a medical that he received an all-clear, so contradicting claims of a "minor thigh injury" by Newcastle.
The Daily Mail says Newcastle have refused to deny Isak's actions have been taken without their permission. The striker now faces disciplinary action.
