According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Newcastle are set to sign Jacob Ramsey, 24, from Aston Villa after the two clubs reached an agreement regarding the fee.
Howe’s side will pay a £39m fixed fee plus £5m in ‘difficult’ add-ons for the left winger who scored four goals and provided five assists in his 45 games last season.
Ramsey will now travel to the Northeast to undergo his medical at the club ahead of completing the move.
Villa, who will compete in this season’s Europa League, have been looking to sell to help the club comply with UEFA’s squad cost rules (SCR) and Football Earnings Rule (FER).
The sale of Ramsey will also help Unai Emery’s side enormously with the Premier League’s PSR, considering he is an academy product.
