Newcastle boss Howe makes selection call between Pope, Ramsdale

Despite the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale on-loan from Southampton, The Sun says Howe will stick with Pope as his No1 for the start of the campaign out of loyalty.

Newcastle have rejected approaches from rivals for Pope, 33, this summer.

Instead, Howe is happy for Pope and Ramsdale to scrap it out for a place in his starting XI over the coming season.

Ramsdale agreed to move to Newcastle knowing the situation. He rejected offers from Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland as he preferred joining an established Premier League club.
