Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe says he'll wear the responsibility after their 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The result saw Newcastle drop to 14th place on the Premier League table.

"I understand there's anger and frustration," Howe said afterwards. "I'm not blind to anything.

"I always have to look at myself first. I always say that. I'm number one accountable."

The Toon manager also said: "A couple of games ago we beat Chelsea away and beat Manchester United and you sit here off the back of a disappointing run and the outside noise is to change everything.

"Sometimes you have got to believe in what you do but, of course, we have to execute it better."

Meanwhile, Toon goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale also said of the Palace setback: "It's probably the story of our season.

"Getting into winning positions and not being able to hold on.

"I can't really put my finger on it."
