Jack Grealish struck an injury-time winner for Everton as they left London with a 2-1 win.
Toffees manager David Moyes said afterwards: “I'm thrilled with the three points, thrilled with the result. Mixed emotions on the performance. Not very good at all in the first half and could have been three down, but kept defending, kept stuck at it, showed a bit of resilience.
“I've been waiting on a late goal here. Aston Villa was 0-0, we couldn't quite get the winner against West Ham, so I was hoping we'd get one of them. Thankfully, we got it today.”
Moyes felt halftime substitutes Charly Alcaraz and Beto made the difference.
“I think maybe a bit of mentality,” explained Moyes. “We started the game really poorly. We gave away two or three long throw-ins, two or three corner kicks. We never got a chance to get a grip to the game at all.
“I thought the subs made a huge difference to us today. So, look, I’m thrilled we got a big victory."
