Former Scotland striker and broadcasting icon Ally McCoist has spoken on Arsenal's title hopes as they seek success.

Arsenal and Manchester City are locked in a fierce battle for the title in a race that will come down to the wire in the final few games of the season.

The Gunners are in pole position to win their first Premier League title since 2004 as they sit two points clear of City with two games remaining.

As they aim to make history, McCoist spoke to football betting site talkSPORT Bet about how once the side lift that first title, the next few will seem much easier.

“We've had an incredible season. I think it's been incredible. Could there be a hiccup? Certainly. City going to Bournemouth is anything but a guaranteed three points. I just cannot see Arsenal giving it away. I really can't.

“The first one is always the hardest and once they've done it, I think they’ll be in a far better place to go and do it again. That goes without saying. But, I mean, there has to be an improvement from other clubs next year. Manchester United will continue to improve and City will bite back. Of course, they will. You'd better believe they will. You would think there has to be improvement in Chelsea too.

“The first league title is, in my opinion, the hardest. I could easily see Arsenal winning more, but I'm not going to say they're going to go on and win three or four in a row. But I could easily see them winning a couple of the next three or four, certainly.”

City’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace means that Arsenal can no longer seal the title when they host already relegated Burnley in their final home match of the season at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

Arsenal must be perfect for their final two games if they are to go all the way in a season that could trigger an avalanche of success.
