Mateta stalls new contract talks with Crystal Palace

The France striker has just over 18 months to run on his current deal and Palace are eager to discuss an extension.

But BBC Sport says after initial discussions at the beginning of the year, little progress has since been made.

For his part, Mateta is now in no rush to enter an agreement over a new deal with the Eagles.

Instead, the striker wants to wait until after the World Cup to assess his career options.
