Casemiro is out of contract next June, while there is uncertainty surrounding the futures of Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo and even captain Bruno Fernandes in what will be a huge worry for manager Ruben Amorim who is already under mounting pressure.
The Red Devils are keen to rebuild their midfield once the season is over and whilst the likes of Conor Gallagher, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have been linked it looks like Anderson may be leading the race earlier than expected.
GOAL has reported that Elliot Anderson is the midfielder United would like to sign in the upcoming January transfer window. The England international has gone from strength to strength for Forest where he is often the club’s star player.
The 23-year-old has picked up three goals and seven assists in 64 games for Forest, and United see him as the player who can transform their midfield into a force to be reckoned with.
United inquired about Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Conor Gallagher, of Atletico Madrid, late in the summer window, but Amorim is reportedly ready to forget the pair as long as he can snatch up Anderson as early as possible.
Anderson is the clear number one when it comes to winter midfield targets for Man United and with the window opening over the next 24 hours, a move could be imminent for the Forest playmaker.
