The first of the series of posts read: "Join Macclesfield FC. Excited for the future".
Then another read: “This is why I need to get paid more.”
And a further one stated: “Let’s get rid of INEOS.”
After the light-hearted posts began to turn nasty and personal, United released a statement confirming Fernandes' account had been hacked.
“Bruno Fernandes’s X account has been hacked. Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages,” read a club statement.
