Manchester United have made a third bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo that is said to be worth £70M.

United saw their second bid for the Cameroon forward, worth £62.5m, rejected by Brentford in June and have since refused to match Brentford’s asking price which they felt was too high. However, after a month of talks that have slowed down, the club have now made their move for the Cameroon international.

This comes from journalist David Ornstein, who broke the news and revealed that United are willing to go all out to secure Mbeumo’s signature.

“EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United make improved bid to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. New offer for 26yo forward worth £65m fixed + £5m add-ons. #MUFC awaiting #BrentfordFC response as they work to close deal for Cameroon int’l & top target.”

The BBC report that United are confident of adding the Mbeumo to Ruben Amorim's squad before they head to the US on Tuesday for three pre-season games against West Ham United, Bournemouth and Leeds United.

Old Trafford chiefs are now eagerly awaiting a response from the Gtech Community Stadium but as they have met the Bees valuation the deal should move forward very quickly over the next few days. United’s 44 Premier League goals was their worst return in a domestic campaign since they were relegated in 1973-74.

The likes of Mbeumo and summer signing Matheus Cunha should help provide the goals needed to help United climb back up the table after finishing near the relegation zone last season. He scored 20 goals last season in the Premier League alone and Amorim will be delighted to welcome such a consistent goal threat to the club.
