Fernandes scored in yesterday's 2-0 win against Tottenham, which marked a fourth win in four games for Carrick since his appointment.
Fernandes later told TNT Sports: "Michael has won everything here and he knows what it means to the fans, what it means for the club to win and how much is required to succeed in this club.
"I think it adds something very special to the team.
"Michael came in with the right ideas to give players responsibility. He is very strong in his communication.
"I still think he remembers what I said to him the last time he was our manager, at our last match (caretaker manager in 2021). I was sure Michael could become an amazing manager and that's exactly what he shows now."
