Amorim was sacked by United on January 5 and the club announced the potential payoff in a filing to the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday. It came a day after it was confirmed United had made a profit of £32.6m in their second-quarter results to 31 December 2025.
In the filing, United confirmed an amortised fee of £6.3m needed to prise Amorim away from Sporting CP in November 2024 - had been written off and a "provision of £15.9m" would be made.
This figure represents the highest amount United could be liable to pay Amorim and his coaching staff.
There is no mention of what triggers would take the price to "£15.9m", though it's been claimed it will relate to Amorim's next job.
