Man United will reportedly block any potential move for midfielder Kobbie Mainoo following Bruno Fernandes' injury in the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday (December 21).

The 20-year-old continues to push for a move away due to his lack of minutes under Ruben Amorim, but that has been made even less likely by Fernandes’ injury.

Fernandes showed signs of discomfort in the first half of the game against Villa and didn’t emerge at half time, replaced by Lisandro Martinez.

According to The Times, United have absolutely no intention of letting Mainoo leave in January now, despite continued interest from Napoli.

It remains to be seen just how severe Fernandes’ injury is, but Amorim stated his captain will be out for “a while” after the defeat to Villa.
