Man United are reportedly planning a shock move worth a massive £40 million for Bournemouth midfielder Marcus Tavernier.

The 26-year-old is enjoying the most prolific season of his career in front of goal with six goals and four assists in his 26 games.

Having played on the left wing for much of the campaign, Tavernier has reportedly emerged as a serious target for Man United, according to the Daily Mail.

Current manager Michael Carrick recently confirmed that the left wing is a position Man United are looking to add to in the summer.

When asked, he responded: "I think you're always looking at the balance of the team and the squad to give you the utmost flexibility, so it's definitely something to look at, for sure."

It’s understood that Man United want to add more Premier League proven talent following the successes of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
