Man United have officially launched an appeal against Lisandro Martinez's red card in their 2-1 Premier League defeat to Leeds on Monday (April 13).

The 28-year-old was shown a straight red for pulling the hair of Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Old Trafford.

Man United manager Michael Carrick described it was “one of the worst” decisions he’s seen, with captain Bruno Fernandes equally as furious.

According to The Telegraph, Man United have now launched the appeal in the hopes that the Premier League will overturn the decision.

If it’s upheld, Martinez will miss the weekend’s trip to Chelsea and then the two home games against Brentford and Liverpool.
