Pep Guardiola’s side have been keen on signing the 23-year-old for the past year as they seek a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker.
According to TEAMtalk, City are willing to offer a package worth £65 million to make a deal happen and could offer goalkeeper James Trafford as a sweetner.
Newcastle were on the verge of signing Trafford from Burnley in the summer, but City swooped in to snatch him from under their nose.
City then replaced the England international with Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Trafford hasn’t player a single Premier League minute since.
It’s understood that the ‘keeper will push for a move away from City in January, with Newcastle one of the interested parties.
