Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is ready to hand a lifeline to Kalvin Phillips.

Back after last season's loan with Ipswich Town, Phillips was surprisingly registered for the Premier League by City for the new campaign.

And the Telegraph says Phillips' form on the training pitch has the midfielder in the mix to make Guardiola's squad for tomorrow's derby against Manchester United.

A call would be a huge career boost for Phillips, who appeared on the way out after letting down his manager with his weight issues after England's World Cup campaign.

Guardiola's criticism drew a response from Phillips and his mother, suggesting he would be offloaded by City. But two years on and Phillips is now in the frame for a derby place.
