Arsenal winger Noni Madueke says he is unfazed by criticism as he continues to thrive under manager Mikel Arteta.

Goals from Jurrien Timber, Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli help Arsenal to a 3-1 win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night as they sent a statement to the rest of Europe who will see the Gunners as one of the favourites to win it all.

Madueke poked home after a fine delivery from fellow sub Riccardo Calafiori in what was the final blow for the German champions, who looked deflated on the night.

Fan criticism means nothing

Madueke’s controversial £52M switch across London from Chelsea was well documented and even sneered at by fans who believed he would never be good enough.

Speaking after the game, the England star shrugged off those suggestions and says he simply ignores all the talk on and off the pitch.

"To be honest, I just kind of take all that stuff in my stride. It is normal, you are in the public eye, people can say whatever they want about you but being in the stadium and how the fans have taken to me in the stadium, is unbelievable. I am not really worried about all of that. It is in the distant past.

"For me, it is another game, honestly. The fixture is not about me. The fixture is about Arsenal getting another three points in the league and being closer to our objective. That is honestly how I think about it.”

Madueke shrugs off the pressure

On the game itself, which was a huge occasion, Madueke says he is used to such pressure and does not let the crowd or the importance of such a game get to him.

"It might be a little bit hostile, it might not be, but I am a professional footballer. I have played in loads of atmospheres.

"I don’t know if anything will faze me, I will just be focused on the task ahead.

"That is the most important thing. It is about our team and trying to win the game. It’s as simple as that."
